Deer heads, bear skin rug, caribou and fox pelts combined with the warm woods, leather, fireplaces, mission furniture, and evergreens featured in this turn-of-the century "arts and crafts" home, capture the spirit of Northern Michigan.

The Deer Head Inn is one of Mackinaw City's oldest homes, built in 1913. The original owner, Samuel Smith, was a banker, lumber man, hotelier, mayor for 35 years and a Michigan State Legislator. A third generation family has operated the once single family home as a bed & breakfast since 1998. The original hardwood floors, wainscoting, fixtures, fireplace and nine foot ceilings have been preserved. All bedrooms have private, en suite bathrooms, fireplaces, air conditioning, wireless internet access and television. All bathrooms have showers, and some also have an old fashioned claw foot bathtub. Our largest suite has a two-person spa tub. Designer bed linens provide a comfortable setting for relaxation after a long day sightseeing.

A full, hearty breakfast is served every morning in the beautiful Orchard Dining Room where some of the original arts & crafts furniture is still being used.

Throughout the home, you will find numerous artifacts, photographs and old books dating back to the time the home was built.

The Inn's decor is ideal for small weddings or business meetings.
