Ernest never stayed at The Deer Head Inn but he was no stranger to this part of northern Michigan. As a young man he came to northern Michigan for its great trout fishing and for a place to write his early short stories, including the collection of Nick Adams stories called Up in Michigan.
We like to think he’d appreciate a quiet comfortable room like the one named in his honor at the Inn.
You’ll find a collection of Hemingway books in the room, a period desk and a typewriter, a comforting fireplace, and easy chairs from the old days.
Settle in, see the sights around the Straits of Mackinac, and enjoy a writer’s solitude in our Hemingway Room.
Full Breakfast on weekends; continental breakfast on weekdays.
